Maharashtra Civil Poll: Owaisi’s AIMIM Banned To Contest The Elections

In a major setback, Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has been banned by the Election Commission from contesting Maharashtra Civic Polls, according to the reports.

Initial reports said that, the party failed to submit income tax and audit report. The EC had submitted notice to the party to submit the required reports failing which the registration will be canceled. However, the party members can contest elections independently.

In 2015, AIMIM made an impressive debut in Aurangabad Municipal elections and had emerged as the main opposition party by winning 24 seats.

Earlier, AIMIM had said to stop ‘media-trials’ of Zakir Naik and had added to take action against him if he is really guilty.
