A 90-year-old man has been found living with his wife’s decomposing body at his flat in Kalkaji, police said.
Reports said that the matter came into light when Govind Ram’s neighbors informed police of stench emanating from his house. Police said that the elderly man is mentally unsound and was living with the body of his wife, Gopi.
Police further added that the flat was poorly maintained and the man was found in a neglected condition lying on the bed and his wife’s decomposed body on the floor. According to the police, the wife was died few days ago. The autopsy has already been conducted on the body and police have ruled out any possibility of foul play. The exact reason of her death will be known after the post-mortem report is received.
The relatives of Ram was also informed, who took him to AIIMS, where he is undergoing treatment.
DCP (Southeast) Romil Baaniya said, “Govind Ram told us his wife, who was bed-ridden for the last few years, fell down from the bed yesterday and did not get up. He is frail and undergoing treatment at AIIMS.”
