Another Death By Cow Vigilantes Registered In Gujarat

After the intense protest by the people of Gujarat against the Una brutalities (www.morningcable.com/547-ahmedabad/43348-gujarat-on-fire-after-protests-erupted-over-thrashing-of-dalit-men-for-cow-skinning.html), another death has been registered in the state of a 29-year-old man who has been died by succumbing to the head injuries, which he suffered after beaten up by few men for allegedly ferrying cows.

A footwear salesman Mohammed Ayyub Shaikh, died at VS Hospital, where he was met after his car allegedly suffered an accident on Monday.

Samir Shaikh, Ayyub’s acquaintance who was with him in the car and later arrested by police for illegal possession of cow progeny told police that they were chased and thrashed by cow vigilantes.

The complaint has been lodged against the unknown accused at the Anandnagar Police Station. Victim’s maternal uncle has alleged that police fabricated the accident story to save the accused. Pathan said, “We will not bury the body until the accused are arrested.”

Akhtar Shekani, Ayyub’s friend, has alleged that his friend was thrashed in front of the police. Shekani said, “Punish them for transporting calves according to the law. But nobody has the right to take law into his own hands.”

The complaint lodged by Shaikh said that Ayyub’s car met with an accident after he accelerated on being chased down by the cow vigilantes.He further alleged that after the accident both of the was dragged out of the car and thrashed by few men.

However, stating that there are no proofs supporting Shaikh’s claims, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Shivanand Jha said, “CCTV footage of the stretch does not show any car chasing Ayyub’s car. We are further analyzing more CCTV footage and will take appropriate action once investigation is over.”
