US Presidential Election 2016: Indian-American Raja Krishnamoorthi Win Illinois

The Indian-American US Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi has won the US Congressional election and will be representation Illinois in the US House of Representatives after he defeated Republican former Elmhurst Mayor Peter DiCianni.
The 43-year-old, Krishnamoorthi won the Chicago-area House of Representative seat, after it was vacated by the Tammy Duckworth, who won the US Senate on the Illinois seat.
Endorsed by the President Barack Obama, Raja Krishnamoorthi, a laboratory executive was born in New Delhi and has parental root in India’s Chennai.

Krishnamoorthi is the second Hindu-American to be elected in the US House of Representative after Tulsi Gabbard, who is also seeking her third term from Hawaii. He received 81,263 votes against his rival, Peter DiCianni by 54,149 votes.
Krishnamoorthi has become the only second Indian-American member of Congress after Dalip Singh Soundh in 1950 after the winning the Congress seat in the second attempt.
