WhatsApp Comes To WIndows PCs and Macs

Facebook-owned Top messaging app, WhatsApp, today has launched its versions for desktop PCs running on Windows 8 and above as well as for Mac 10.9 and above.

Company, on its official blog has launched the new version for the desktop PCs. According to Whatsapp, this feature will help the users to be in touch with their Whatsapp contacts anywhere from their homes to office. This feature will increase the compatibility of the app towards their users.

Similar to the company’s recent launch, Whatsapp Web, this feature will mirror the phone’s app on the desktop of the user and the user can send and receive messages from the computer, according to Whatsapp.

“The new desktop app is available for Windows 8+ and Mac OS 10.9+ and is synced with WhatsApp on your mobile device. Because the app runs natively on your desktop, you'll have support for native desktop notifications, better keyboard shortcuts, and more,” said the company on the blog.

Users will have to go to https://www.whatsapp.com/download to download the app on your desktop. Measuring about 62 MBs in size, app will get installed on your PC and you can use the app directly through the desktop. You just need to scan the code like the WhatsApp Web feature and it’ll sync all your data on your computer.

Company added on the blog,“Just like WhatsApp Web, the new desktop app lets you message with friends and family while your phone stays in your pocket.”

WhatsApp is coming with various new feature to make it more user friendly with a secured accessing. Recently, Whatsapp also added end-to-end encryption for the users to encrypt the messages and to maintain the secrecy of the information of the users.
