Live mudslinging in Corporation, Jaipur

The members of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation created havoc in the meeting with the two rival parties resorting to dirt throwing and lively combat. The unfortunate mayor who is bogged down by many a controversy, has added another to the list, while being a silent spectator.  The issue started, as the house took up discussions for the annual budget session of the civic body, today. What started as an expression for protest against the lack of cleanliness in the city resulted in a free for all chaos in the house.

Congress-backed independent councilor Haji Nawab Ali threw a dustbin full of dirt on BJP councilor Roshan Saini, who is the Chairman of the health committee. After that Mr Saini chased Mr Haji, who tried to escape but ended up bumping into a table and falling down. In the melee the Congress joined Mr Haji and the BJP joined its councilor. Both the parties ended up in a free for all fight, resulting in unruly scenes in the esteemed house.

The first lady Mayor Jyoti Kandelwal fielded by the Congress remained a silent spectator to the whole issue and it was the Marshalls who came to the rescue of the house.  On November 26, Jyoti Khandelwal will complete her two-year tenure as city mayor. She won election promising to make city a world class city. However, her tenure emerged as the most controversial in history of Jaipur Municipal Corporation. During her chairmanship in general body meeting, the councilors threw slippers at each other, kicked and fought and more shamelessly, a woman councilor’s saree was torn which hit the headlines of national media.
