Ram Temple not now, Rajnath at Ayodhya

Union home minister Rajnath Singh said that the Ram temple issue cannot be resolved by passing a law in Parliament as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not have a majority on its own in the Rajya Sabha. “The BJP does not have a majority in the Rajya Sabha, so this time it is not possible to bring motion in the Parliament to make a law for the construction of Ram temple,” he said. “The honourable high court has given its verdict on the Ayodhya dispute. The matter is pending at the Supreme Court. All of us should wait for the verdict of the Supreme Court,” he added.

The ruling BJP led NDA has only 45 members in the Rajya Sabha and it is unlikely that it will be able to have the numbers during its current tenure. Rajya Sabha has 243 members and the opposition has around 132 in its kitty.

The home minister said, he was in Ayodhya to take part in a program hosted by senior VHP leader Nritya Gopal Das. Home minister’s admission follows RSS and VHP are stating that they favour giving time to the Modi government until it gets a majority in the Rajya Sabha. After offering prayers at Ram Janmabhoomi and Hanumangarhi, he also met Mahant Gyan Das, the head priest of Hanumangarhi.

Construction of Ram temple at the very birthplace of Lord Sri Ram is a dream of every Hindus. The Ram temple which was there in the birth place of Sri Ram was plundered and destroyed by the Mughal king Babar and the subsequent rulers of the Mughal empire.
