We Demand Sangh-free India and Liquor-free Society, Said Nitish Kumar

Bihar chief minister and the Janata Dal (United) president Nitish Kumar, attacked BJP and RSS on Thursday and said that the people of Bihar had sent the strong message and taught a lesson to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by electing grand alliance in the state. He was campaigning for his party in Varanasi, Narendra Modi’s constituency, for the elections in the state of Uttar Pradesh in 2017.

“If BJP can be defeated in Bihar, it can be defeated in other states and the country also. We want Sangh-free India and liquor free society,” he said.

He further added,”Bihar taught them a lesson, and I am here in UP to tell everyone to identify BJP people carefully.”

Nitish Kumar’s government, in his state Bihar, had recently imposed a liquor ban from April 1 and he has claimed that it has helped in curbing the crime rate in the state.

He stated that there is a lot of difference in what BJP’s leaders say and what they actually do.

“They made promises during elections of bringing black money within 100 days. But here we are, two years have passed,” he said. “They assured the youth of employment, but where are the jobs?” He said.

People voted for the saffron party clearly on the developmental agenda but the government has not delivered a promise made while elections and nothing has happened, as yet, he claimed. He stated, “Whatever they say during elections, later that is declared a ‘jumla’ by their national president.”

“Kumar may also suggest his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Akhilesh Yadav to impose a ban on liquor across the state,” a senior party leader said.

This was the first visit of Kumar to Varanasi, after he was made the part president and elected as the fifth chief minister of Bihar, last year.

Janata Dal (U) formed a grand alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress against BJP in the state and managed to win the election by a huge margin.
