FIR Filed Against Sonia Gandhi In Kerala

A contractor in Thiruvananthapuram has filed an FIR against Congress president Sonia Gandhi alleging that her party has not paid dues for constructing Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Development Studies.

The company Heather Constructions has alleged that the dues have not been cleared since seven years. Sonia Gandhi had inaugurated the institute in 2005, but the firm had filed the FIR now as the owner has some inkling of party’s inner workings after the debacle of Congress in the state.

Regional leaders such as former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy, former state home minister Ramesh Chennithala and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief VM Sudheeran has been named in the FIR along with Sonia Gandhi creating a major setback for the regional wing of the Congress.

Ramesh Chennithala is the present head of the institute and was KPCC head when it was being built. The current KPCC chief Sudheeran has said that he would not be able to issue money for an old long-finished project.

An insider of the company said that many years later after completion of project some Congress leader are questioning the need to set up the institute. The issue is debated in the state since quiet a long time and and it has not been solved as the Congress president ordered the state unit to solve it issue.

“Out of that Rs 20-crore project, only a small payment of rupees two crore is left. We have sorted out the issue. Within 24 hours, both the parties will sit and settle the issue,” said Randeep Surjewala, Congress spokesperson claiming that there is not any default of payment.
