Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani Killed In Kashmir

In an encounter with three terrorists at Kashmir’s Bundoora village in the Anantnag district, seciruty officials of the 19th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group (SoG) of J&K police eliminated Hizbul Kashmir commander and famously known as poster boy of terror, Burhan Wani.

According to reports, Burhan wani, a 22-year-old from Kashmir’s Tral area was inspiring Kashmir youth to take up arms and join the militant forces through social media and various videos. Despite having the brief information, security agencies managed to find and kill Burhan. An official monitoring the operation said, “He had slipped through our net thrice before. A specialized unit from Srinagar was also moved.”

Sources said, “The army and the SoG moved forward with utmost caution and with no fatalities to own troops succeeded in eliminating three terrorists including Burhan Wani and Sartaj Ahmed of Sheikh Takiya village.”

An official said Burhan Wani was a son of a principal in Tral School and he joined terror groups a decade ago. “He became prominent when pictures of 11 terrorists brandishing their weapons in the jungles of South Kashmir were circulated on Facebook and Twitter.” Another official said, “These were new age terrorists. Unafraid to show their faces and their group”

Few days before Eid his picture in white T-shirt and camouflage trousers while playing cricket went viral on social media. He had been demanding information of the informers form the local people and was threatening him to be killed if they provide any information to the security forces about their movements.

A source said, “This showed us that the terrorists were panicking. While there has been a spurt in terror activities in south Kashmir, there was also a corresponding increase in anti-terror operations. We were getting regular ground intelligence about the movement of terrorists and had successfully neutralised 9 of 11 terrorists from the Facebook picture. This had alarmed the Hizbul Mujahideen.”
