PM Modi To Travel In Train To Pietermaritzburg To Mark Gandhi’s Histroic South Africa Ride

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s who is currently at South Africa tour is set to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s historical ride in South Africa where he was thrown out of the train to Pietermaritzburg.

In 1893, Mahatma Gandhi, who went to South Africa, had been thrown out of the train due to his skin color which had triggered the importance of fighting against injustice into him which resulted into his famous non-violent fight against British government in South Africa.

PM Modi will also visit Gandhi’s Phoenix settlement.

Earlier, Modi visited Indian diaspora in South Africa numbered around 1 million. Modi has said that India’s economy is one of the most open economies in the world to attract investors from Africa to India. He also said that Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha was discovered here in South Africa which is Mahatma Gandhi’s karmbhoomi (Land of Work).

PM Modi is scheduled to to visit Tanzania and then to Kenya in his four-nation visit to raise India’s profile in Africa.

He had arrived in Durban on Friday night from Johannesburg, completing his first day of the visit.
