PM Narendra Modi To Review The Kashmir Violence Situation Today

Prime minister Narendra Modi, who returned early morning on Tuesday from his four-nation Africa visit , will chair a special meeting to review the ongoing violent situation in Kashmir after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani .

The meeting is expected to be attended by top ministers of the government such as Home minister Rajnath Singh, Finance minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Defense minister Manohar Parrikar. National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval who was with PM Modi on his Africa tour, cut short his trip and returned to India amid the situation in Kashmir. He is also expected to attend the meeting.

Doval said, “If there are problems, there are solutions. We are quite confident and competent of finding solutions.” Ajit Doval also attended a meeting held by Home minister Rajnath Singh, which was also attended by Finance minister Arun Jaitley, Defense minister Manohar Parrikar and MoS in the PMO Jitendra Singh.

Earlier, on Monday, Home minister Rajnath Singh discussed the issue with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah and tried to find the solution.

Huge violence erupted in Kashmir after the security forces killed Burhan Wani, a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen. Despite the curfew, over 20,000 people gathered for his funeral and riots erupted in Srinagar.

The CPM has asked the government to organize the special all-party meeting to find the solution on the Kashmir’s unrest. A statement released by the party said, “The administration should desist from using excessive force against the protesters. Those responsible for killing innocent unarmed protesters must be identified and punished.”

According to the reports, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has expressed concerns over situation in Kashmir on Monday.
