Militants Attacked Army Convoy In Baramulla; 2 Soldiers, 1 Policeman Killed

In the first militant attack on army convoy in Baramulla in many years, two soldiers as well as 1 policeman has been killed on Srinagar-Baramulla national highway. According to the reports, five soldiers are also injured in the attack.

Since August 15, this is the third militant attack on the security forces in the valley, reports said.

The army spokesperson told one of the leading dailies of the country, “Two army men and a police constable were killed in the attack, there are some injuries as well.” According to the locals, firing continued for more than 20 minutes and militants were successful in to escape after the attack.

Keeping in mind the sensitive conditions after the protests erupted due to the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, Army is trying to move its convoy in nights to avoid any troubles. Earlier, on Tuesday, GOC, 19 Division said that the five infiltrators, with plans to attack civil or high-value target, have been eliminated.

A Police station on Kakapora tehsil of Pulwama district near Srinagar was attacked by the militants with grenades.
