Firing Resumed Again In Jammu And Kashmir’s Poonch

The day after the three terrorists were killed in Jammu And Kashmir by the security forces, the firing resumed in Jammu And Kashmir’s Poonch sector. Yesterday, seven terrorists were killed in four separate encounters in the state. One policeman was also killed by the terrorists, reports said.

The three terrorists were killed when they holed up inside an under-construction building close to an army camp. In the fierce gun-battle which lasted for a day one policeman was killed and another was injured. An elderly couple, who had been taken hostage, were rescued by the security forces.

In Nowgam Sector near Line of Control (LoC), Army killed four terrorists, believed to be Pakistanis and the security forces managed to foil two other infiltration attempts in Tangdhar and Gurez sectors. Four AK-47 rifles and large cache of ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.

Stone pelting erupted after, according to the villagers, large number of residential houses were ransacked during the raids. Two drivers were injured and 17 tankers have been allegedly damaged in stone-pelting attack. In response, the truckers have announced a strike from today.

Since, Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s killing on July 8, 80 people have been killed and around 10,000 have been injured in Kashmir in clashes between protesters and the security forces.
