Police Providing Sensitive Information To Pakistan Suspended

The J&K Police has suspended a Deputy Superintendent on Thursday for providing sensitive information to about security deployment to Pakistani intelligence agencies during the ongoing unrest in the valley.

The J&K DGP K Rajendra Kumar decided to suspend the officer and initiate probe after the inputs from the home ministry suggested frequent contact of DSP, armed police control room, Tanveer Ahmad on phone with Pakistani agents across the border.

Tanveer Ahmad said that he received a call at the control room phone a month ago from a person identifying himself as an Army Commander. The caller wanted him to share the details of the deployment of police and para-military forces at various places in the valley. He said, “Before sharing details, I sought permission from my SP.”

Sources said that the DSP shared the details using WhatsApp but the MHA traced the call and investigated the details. Following the orders from the MHA, the DGP initiated investigation into the matter.

The Pakistani callers has been calling the security agencies dealing anti-insurgency in Kashmir for the last few years. They introduce themselves as officers of other security agencies and seek details of security employment.
