Parrikar Directs Forces To Give Befitting Response To Any Misadventure From LoC

Union Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar, who had reached Srinagar on Wednesday has directed the Army personnel deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) to be alert and give befitting reply to any misadventure from the LoC.

According to an Army official, Manohar Parrikar, who is on his two-day visit to Srinagar, also visited the Army camp in Uri, where, previously, terrorists had killed 19 soldiers.

During his visit, Manohar Parrikar along with Army Chief General Dalbir Singh was briefed by the local commanders about the situation in the area as well as the internal security measures initiated by the Indian Army. The Defense Minister also had a meeting with the soldiers deployed at the forward areas.

The official said, “While complimenting their valour and fortitude, which Parrikar said was the entire nation's pride, he also impressed upon the soldiers to remain in a very high state of alert to give a befitting response to any misadventure from across.”

Parrikar along with senior rank officers as well as other officials will also pay homage to first Param Vir Chakra, highest military honor, recipient Major Somnath Sharma on his 69th death anniversary on Thursday.

Major Sharma had been given the highest military honor posthumously for his bravery in the Kashmir Operation in November 1947.
