Acid-Laden Truck Overturned In Thane

According to the reports, an acid-laden truck toppled on the busy Ghodbunder road in Thane on Wednesday morning and as the leaking acid fumes spread in the area, the authorities evacuated a school in the valley.

Reports said that a truck carrying hydrochloric acid (HCL) toppled near Gaimukh octroi post at around 8 AM, Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell chief Satosh Kadam said.

He added that the overturning of the truck resulted into the acid from the drums started leaking. Since the acid’s fumes engulfed the entire area, a school and octroi post close to the mishap spot were closed and children and staff sent home.

The truck drives was rushed to the hospital after he sustained injuries in the mishap. Kadam said that the firemen and disaster management cell personnel immediately sent to the spot and added that the work was on to remove the truck from the road.
