AIMPLB To Create A Women’s Wing

To boost social reform activities among the Muslim women, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), for the first time, has decided to for a women’s wing. The Board has also decided to start a women helpline to guide women on the family issues.

After finishing board’s three-day 25th General Meeting in Kolkata on Sunday, AIMPLB secretary Zafaryab Jellani, in a press conference said that the toll free centers in Urdu, English and eight other regional languages will be set up.

He added that the women helpline will also deal with family disputes as well as education.

Earlier, the board has criticized the proposed Uniform Civil Code and alleged that it was politically motivated and focused on the upcoming Assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh.

Mr. Jellani said, “The proposed UCC is definitely politically motivated...The Centre has failed on many fronts and being unable to keep their poll promises, they are trying to divert the people’s attention from other issues.”

The board has once again reiterated the stand on Uniform Civil Code and said, “Shariah laws are divine laws and cannot be modified, changed or altered by any person or authority.”
