Election commission officials in Tamilnadu has seized Rs 570 crore

The officials of the flying squad of election commission has seized three containers with cash worth Rs 570 crores, during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, at Chengapalli in Tirupur district, which is about 18 km from the district capital.

While the officials were conducting routine checking of vehicles, three containers did not stop at the signal of the squad. The squad members quickly chase them, and found Rs 570 crore in cash being carried in the containers without valid documents.

The drivers of the containers and the persons accompanied them, claiming to be the police officials from Andhra Pradesh, said that the money belongs to a public sector bank and is being transported from Coimbatore to Vishakapatnam. There were no valid documents available with the transporters and hence the officials seized the three containers.

The personnel accompanying the containers said that they were transferring Rs 570 crore from State Bank of India in Coimbatore to Vishakhapatnam branches but did not have all the necessary documents. Efforts are on to ascertain the veracity of their claim.
