Rangoon is an intense love story that has been set during 1940s during the Second World War. Rangoon revolves around three characters Russi Billimoria (Saif Ali Khan), Jamadar Nawab Malik (Shahid Kapoor) and Julia (Kangana Ranaut). While Russi is an action hero and a filmmaker, Julia is a famous actress and Nawab is the game changer. Rangoon is all about the love stories between them and is showcased about the love, passion and emotions. Watch Rangoon to know about the complete story and what happened next.
The first half of Rangoon starts with a bang and all the three leading actors thrive to perform to their best. Especially Shahid and Kangana have been outstanding. The movie has a predictable plot but it is the narration of the characters and their performances which lead the show. The entire first half has been decent and the songs have been extremely colorful. The performances by the lead actors make a strong impact across the audience.
The second half of the film manages to stand convincing but it is the slow pace and dragged episodes that disturb the audience. The songs have been shot well and the backdrop of Second World War has been extremely convincing. The pre-climax episodes make the film interesting and intense. The climax has been decent and on the whole, Rangoon is quite convincing if one ignores some flaws.
Saif Ali Khan has been decent with his performance however some of his episodes look dragged. Saif has been showcased in many shades throughout the film. Shahid steals the show as the man on mission and is the major highlight of Rangoon. He has been rugged with confidence and his grey shades have been well presented. Kangana Ranaut has been shameless, brave and fearless throughout the film. No other actress can perform the character of Julia with utmost perfection other than her. All the other actors have been perfect and apt.
The story of Rangoon has been derived from Second World War and it has been layered with three different characters. The screenplay and the dialogues are the major highlights of the movie. They make a strong impact throughout. The music and the background score strike hard. The cinematography is the major highlight of the film. Vishal Bharadwaj impresses the audience big time with his directorial abilities.
Rangoon narrates an intense love saga backed during the second world war. The performances along with the gripping narration turn the film interesting.
