V K Singh To Leave For Saudi To Asses Food Crisis Situation Of 10,000 Jobless Indians In The Country

Minister of State, External Affairs, V K Singh, will be leaving for Saudi Arabia to asses the food crisis situation of the Indian nationals in the country due to the unemployment in the country due to the lowering down the oil prices.

V K Singh will assess the situation in the country as well as will explore the chances of possible return along with the Saudi officials.

Earlier, External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj had said that around 10,000 Indians are starved in Saudi Arabia and Indian Government has asked Indian mission there to provide food to them.

M J Akbar tweeted,

 

 

After taking orders from the External Affairs minister, Indian consulate in Jeddah provided food to the thousands of workers, who are facing food crisis in the country.

 

 

 

 

 

Sushma Swaraj has also asked the 30 lakh Indians who are in Saudi Arabia to help their fellow brothers and sisters.

 

 

Dismissing the initial reports that 800 Indians are strangulated in Saudi Arabia, Sushma Swaraj confirmed that total number of Indians facing the food crisis in Saudi Arabia are 10,000. According to the reports, 2,450 Indian who are in deep crisis due to the increasing unemployment were provided by the food and other assistance.
