Newly elected Team India’s coach Anil Kumble while answering on Ravi Shastri’s comments on Wednesday said no one but the players are the most important part of the system.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Cricket Advisory Committee’s member Sourav Ganguly was not present while interviewing Ravi Shastri for the post of Team India’s coach. And this had made Ravi Shastri unhappy and while giving interviews to various newspapers he said that its the matter which will be cleared bu Sourav Ganguly and he can only tell what problems he has with me.
Sourav Ganguly in reply had said that he don’t to make any remarks on Ravi Shastri’s comments.
Anil Kumble, while talking to media on his first day as coach said that neither he nor Ravi Shastri or any other official is as important as players.
He said in his first press conference as India’s National cricket team coach, “I was the first one to call Ravi after chosen as the head coach. He did a wonderful job with the Indian team. And it's not about Ravi or me or anyone else. It's about the players, it's about the team”
“From my point of view, we all want Indian team to do well, and perform at its best. We all believe that India team has the potential to dominate all three formats. He was part of this journey and (now) I am part of this journey. That's all what I have to say. He congratulated me and I told him we have a fantastic team,” he said.
He further added, “It could be somebody else tomorrow. I am not permanent here in this role. I have an opportunity to make a difference and I have an opportunity to be part of a journey. I am privileged and honored to be part of this journey.”
Ravi Shastri has also said by remaining absent for his interview he has shown disrespect to him and to his job. According to reports, it was said that Sourav Ganguly had taken an official permission for the leave as he had to attend a meeting at Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) of which he is a president.
