Loneliness forcing techies to kill themselves

The rising numbers of techie suicides in the country have recently raised concerns on why are software personnel resorting to suicide as their last way out?

A fresh incident of suicide came to the fore after a techie, 23-year-old Ashwini Nayar working with Oracle leaped out of the 7th floor window of the multi-storeyed Oracle building in Gacchi Bowli, Hyderabad.

Analysts are of the opinion that lack of social security drives techies to their dire fate. “IT workers are loners and desperate for real friends  and company,” says a psychologist.

Police say that four out of five techie suicides were due to problems in marital life and social stigma followed by high expectations.

The suicides of Neelima of Infosys, Hyderabad, Shanmugham of Cognizant Technologies, Bangalore, and Swapnil Badrinarayana of Infosys Pune  have all raised questions on IT professionals and their need to have a more active personal life.
