Shunkoin historic Kyoto temple in Japan to offer gay weddings

Though the gay marriages are still illegal in Japan, a Buddhist temple is offering LGBT couple weddings in traditional Japanese style. As per Council On Foreign Relations, the country aloe same sex marriage ceremonies within its borders, but they won't have the legal rights and privileges as the heterosexual couples have.

The Shunkoin Temple in priest Takafumi Kawakami claimed that “We welcome every couple regardless of their faith or sexual orientation.” Since 2010 around five couples to the temple to symbolically tie the knot. He also stated that most of the people in the country don’t understand that these restrictions have a profound effect on LGBT people.

The most interesting is that, Shunkoin is teaming up with Hotel Granvia Kyoto which provides some special destination wedding packages for couples who would like to get married inside the temple.
