A major fire accident took place in the 15th floor of Chatterjee International building near Park Street in Kolkata on Tuesday and several people were feared trapped.

Many people were unable to come down as the fire broke out in between the 12th and 15th floors with huge flames. Several fire engines have been rushed to the spot and people were throwing something or the other from there floors in-order to catch the attention of fire officials and save them.

People were also trying to come out from there balconies by tying ropes and one person has been seriously injured when he jumped out from the building from such a height.

"There is no news of any casualty and the cause of the fire or the extent of damage is yet to be ascertained," an official of the Kolkata Police said.
