Monsoon To Start Withdrawing In 3-4 Days: IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that India’s June-September Monsoon rains could start withdrawing from the north-western region of the country in the next 3-4 days.

The IMD said, “Conditions are becoming favorable for withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from some parts of West Rajasthan (in north-western India) during next 3-4 days.”

Reports said that Monsoon, which delivers country’s 70 percent of annual rainfall, usually stars withdrawing in the first week of September. However, this year it has been delayed by nearly two weeks.

Due to lack of irrigation system in the country to a larger part of land, the Monsoon rains become vital for 263 million farmers and their rice, sugarcane, corn, cotton and soybean crops.

Reports added that country has received Monsoon rainfall 5 percent lower than the normal range in the current season.

With the goog Monsoon season, India needs effective policies to prevent the situation of drought or floods. The government’s focus should not only be on Monsoon rains but also on policies which will help in getting more results from the good rains.
