Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif Arrived In US To Attend UNGA With Kashmir On Agenda

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in New York, United States to attend United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) where he will raise the issue of alleged human rights violations in Kashmir in his speech on September 21.

Naw Sharif, who has not spoken on recent terrorist attack on Indian Army camp in Jammu And Kashmir’s Uri where the investigations shows that the terrorist were facilitated by Pakistan, was received at Kennedy International Airport by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Maleeha Lodhi, the Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani and senior officials of the Pakistani mission.

Special Assistant to the PM on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi has also joined Nawaz Sharif in the tour.

While speaking to the reports Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhary told reporters that the Prime Minister would go through a tight schedule including addressing the 193-member assembly on September 21 and meeting at least ten world leaders among other activities.

He added that the Prime Minister would specifically focus on the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir particularly the ‘continuing grave violations of human rights’ taking place there.

Reports said that Pakistani PM is expected to meet the President of Iran, Prime Minister of Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Nepal, Romania, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the UNGA.

Meanwhile, India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will be delivering the speech at UNGA on September 26 as PM Narendra Modi will not be attending the assembly for the first time in three years.
