Akhilesh slams Home Secretary

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has warned the government bureaucrats for making insensitive comments on Muzaffarnagar camp deaths. While the government has made official that 34 children have died all below 12 years at the relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts between September 7 and December 20, 2013. Principal Secretary (Home) Anil Gupta made a controversial statement that people do not die of cold.

On Friday Mr. Gupta said, “Children have died of pneumonia, not of cold. Nobody can die of cold. If people died of cold, nobody would have been alive in Siberia.” This remarks irked Akhilesh and he blasted the officials “Those people who go before the press should be careful while selecting their words so that they don't hurt anyone.”

The opposition party leaders too countered secretary Gupta's comments, Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah tweeted "Can't die of the cold"!!!! Send him out in a few less clothes & let's see if he isn't singing a different tune pretty damn quick.”
