Amid The Assembly Elections, Iftar ‘Season’ By Political Parties Starts In UP

To boost their Muslim vote bank agenda as well as to thank their ranks, political parties in Uttar Pradesh are gearing up for Iftar parties after organizing dinner diplomacy to keep their groups untouched before Rajya Sabha and legislative council elections. Beginning from Friday, various political parties are set to organize Iftar parties in the state.

Looking strong at the forthcoming assembly elections in the state, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Mayawati has asked her close aide and party’s Muslim face Naseemuddin Siddiqui to plan an Iftar party on Friday when the party has organized regrouping of its Muslim leaders. Party will be organized at a school in Gomatinagar, according to party sources. Muslim clerics as well as some of the top party leaders are expected to be invited by Siddiqui in the party.

On the other hand, Congress, who is facing a debacle these days has also planned an Iftar party on June 22 at the party’s headquarters in the city and will be hosted by UP Congress committee. Sources has claimed that apart from top guns of the party few Muslim clerics are set to attend the party.

SoniagandhiThe party in power, Samajwadi Party, too, will arrange a couple of Iftar parties next week. The party will be hosted by top SP leadership. Amar Singh and other top guns of the party will attend the party with SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav.

Mulayam-SingThe Muslim wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to organize Iftar party to send a message to the Muslims and to raise its image in the eyes of the minority community in the state.
