Stop Linking Triple Talaq To Uniform Civil Code: Venkaiah Naidu To Muslim Board

Union Minister Vekaiah Naidu ahs unleashed attack on The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) by saying why it’s dragging the Prime Minister into the Uniform Civil Code issue, after the AIMPLB called PM Modi a ‘dictator’.
By telling the Board to not link triple talaq to the issue of Uniform Civil Code and to stop politicizing it, Naidu said, “Join a party of your choice if you want to make political comments.”
The AIMPLB had announced, on Thursday, that it will boycott a Law Commission Questionnaire on religious practices detrimental to women. By calling the questionnaire a ‘fraud’ it accused it of acting at the behest of the center. The board also said that Uniform Civil Code is not good for India.
Naidu, however, said, “Triple talaq is being linked to Uniform Civil Code but main issues are gender justice, non-discrimination and dignity of women.”
On the questionnaire, Naidu said, “Nothing will be imposed on people, the government wants a debate.”
The decision of the Muslim Personal Law Board has the connection of a plea challenging triple talaq which is being heard by the Supreme Court and the Center in the case has called the practice unconstitutional and violative of gender equality.
