Nationwide Strike Of Bank Employees Today

People may face problems in their banking chores on Friday as all the employees of public sector banks, private banks as well as the foreign will go on a one-day strike against the proposed merger of associate banks with State Bank of India (SBI) and the banking reforms which government had announced recently.

Reports said, over 10 lakh employees of all the banks will observe the nationwide strike on Friday.

The United Forum of Bank Unions, an organization of nine bank union have been opposing some of the key points of recently announced banking reforms such as privatization of public sector ob banks, privatization of Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) bank by reducing the government’s share to less than 49 percent and mergers of public sector banks and mergers of SBI and its associate lenders, reports added.

According to the reports, most banks including SBI have already informed the customer about the service delay on July 29 due to the strike at all banks on ‘issue and demand to stop banking sector reforms’.

Meanwhile, the employee association have also demanded strict actions against the willful defaulters.
