Two KG Gold Gone Missing Without Any Break-In

According to the reports, around 2 kg of gold has been vanished from a locker in Wellesley Park branch of State Bank of India but no proofs of break in could be captured by the police.

CCTV camera cannot be installed in the locker room, hence police had to be dependent on the CCTV footage which shows people approaching to the locker area, police said, when they were analyzing the CCTV footage to get any evidence of break in.

Jahangir Alam, a fruit seller and the owner of the locker, filed a complaint at a police station that 2kg od gold has gone missing from his locker in the bank. According to him, he was using the locker before the incident for more than 90 days.

A State Bank of India official said that the locker can only be opened with two keys, one of the bank and other of the client. He said, “When the person operates the locker, there is no one else inside the locker room. There is no CCTV camera inside to establish it, but there is no reason to believe anyone else operated it.”

He has said that Alam has filed a complaint earlier as well but the authorities found nothing to prove it. Alam has multiple lockers in the bank under a nominal account, according to reports.

Police said, “We don't have evidence to say someone forced open the locker. But an outsider might have been involved.”
