Story

Story is about Anokhi Devi (Mallika Sherawat) a dancer turned politician. With her partner (Rajpal Yadav), Anokhi manages to become the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.

But her greed has no limitations and she dreams of becoming Rajasthan CM. To quench her thirst, she engages in a relationship with Dina Nath (Om Puri).

When she was not given the ticket in elections, she blackmails Deenanath with an objectionable CD for a whooping 50 crores. Anokhi goes missing and the case moves to CBI for investigation. What happens then is what ‘Dirty Politics’ revolves around.

Analysis :

 Dirty Politics-review

The film fails horribly to hold up its promising premise. The writer introduces an array of unnecessary sub-plots which diluted the main theme. There is no drama or suspense in the film. The only mystery that remains is why actors like Puri, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher agreed to be a part of such muck. A mishmash of dismal performances, terrible editing and a dry plot-line has altogether caused the film’s failure. The film fails to do justice to its core idea of dishing out a political drama where sex plays a powerful role. The plot is awfully scattered and incoherent. What prompts a dancer to enter politics? Why does a politician dance to her tunes just so that he can get her in bed? Why does she trust a grey-haired man with her money and an explosive CD? Why does she want to contest from a particular constituency? This movie manages to pose more questions than answers. What else can explain the rape sequence in the climax?.

Performance :

Dirty Politics -review

Sherawat's skin show adds no value to the plot. Kher, Shah and Puri manage to better an otherwise dreadful narrative but with a plot this execrable, a better film cannot be whipped up. But then, goodwill does not quite make a person a filmmaker. And if Bokadia's continued ride downhill is not a statement to that, I wonder what will be. Hence when we get into analyzing Dirty Politics, let me clarify 'Good' is already out of question. It is only 'how bad' that we would be discussing. The film is not without Bokadia's quintessential tendency of playing to the gallery and over the top screenplay with four hundred and twenty loopholes. So you have an item number, lustful scenes... and oh those abusive dialogues, crassness!

Bad performances, shoddy dubbing, flawed editing and a plot so contrived that it makes 145 minutes of screen time seem like torture. Director K C Bokadia uses everything in his power to crush your mind, body and soul. It isn’t a novel idea but Bokadia attempts to inject suspense and thrill into the narrative. He even manages to convince a few seasoned actors to be part of his journey but his efforts backfire because not much thought or planning has gone into making it. Anupam Kher and Ashutosh Rana emerge fairly unharmed but their sketchy characters don’t allow them merit or applause. There’s also Atul Kulkarni, who made a striking impact in the classic ‘Rang De Basanti’, who we feel genuinely sorry for. Jacky Shroff flaunts his kohl-smeared eyes and gruff voice and nothing else. Naseeruddin Shah appears the most uninterested and rightly so.

Final Word:
It’s so dirty that you are better off not getting your mind polluted by this muck of a movie.
