IAS Officer Gets Transfer For Doubting Deendayal Upadhyay’s Work

An IAS officer in Chattisgarh has got a show cause notice from the government and has been transferred after he raised questions on the works of BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhyay and claimed that as a thinker and writer there was not a single work that could help understand his ideology.

The IAS officer, Shiv Anant Tayal, in his Facebook post said that web reveal that there are only four lectures on his integral humanism. After the post went viral, BJP leaders began mounting pressure on the state government and demanded action against the IAS for his comments on the social media.

The State government, taking action against Tayal shifted him from his post of Kanker district Zila Panchayat chief executive officer, attaching the 2012 batch IAS with the state secretariat. Later in the night, a show cause notice had also been issued to him.

As the BJP leaders were got angered over his post, Tayal wrote another post on Facebook, apologizing for his post that raised questions on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.

The post reads, “I made a post in the morning raising some spontaneous questions on Pt Deendayal Upadhyay. The act was in a casual follow-up of some reading and browsing. It was never an intention to raise questions on credibility of stalwarts or to offend anyone. Nevertheless, if that happened, I am deeply apologetic and express regret about that. Thank you.”

A BJP state spokesperson, Sachidanand Upasane said that he was considering tot send lead notice to Tayal saying that he is a follower of Deendayal Upadhyay. He said, “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was the most important leaders of Bharatiya Jan sangh, forerunner of the present day BJP, whose doctrine integral humanism has been adopted and accepted widely.”
