Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished his predecessor Dr. Manmohan Singh on his 83rd birthday and prayed for his long and healthy life. PM Modi tweeted,

The Prime Minister’s Office also tweeted that PM Modi had conversation with Manmohan Singh and extended birthday wishes to him personally. PMO tweeted,

Manmohan Singh, who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014, largest period of time after the first PM of India Jawaharlal Nehru and the only person after Nehru to be re-elected after the full 5-year term, was born in small town of Gah in Pakistan, before his family migrated to India during partition in 1947. After receiving his doctorate from Oxford he worked for United Nations during 1966-69. He was also Chief Economic Adviser between 1972-76 and the Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 1982-1985. In 1987, he was appointed as the head of the Planning Commission. He also has served as the finance minister between 1991-1992. By Prajakt K.
