Gujarat’s New CM:Vijay Rupani Elected, Nitin Patel Deputy Chief

After the resignation of Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel accepted by the party in BJP’s Parliamentary board meeting, Vijay Rupani will take over as the new chief minister of Gujarat and Nitin Patel will be the new deputy chief minister reports said.

In party MLA’s meeting on Friday, Rupani was elected for the charge. The meeting was carried out under the observation of senior party leader and union minister Nitin Gadkari and BJP president Amit Shah.

Vijya Rupani was the minister for transport, water supply, labor and employment in Anandiben Patel’s cabinet and is the state president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). By enjoying the wide acceptance from party’s cadre, Rupani was elected in the party meeting. He was elected as MLA for the first time in 2014 after he won the Rajkot seat which was vacated by Vajubhai Vala as he became the governor of Karnataka.

Earlier, it was reported that BJP president Amit Shah will be the chief minister of Gujarat, but the reports was dismissed by senior party leader and union minister Venkaiah Naidu while speaking to the reporters after the parliamentary board meeting on Thursday.
