Curfew Lifted Across Kashmir; Normal Life Still Remain Under Tension

Even though the curfew has been lifted from all places in Kashmir, the normal life is still affected by the ongoing unrest in the valley erupted due to the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.

A senior police official confirmed that there is no curfew anywhere in Kashmir and restrictions on the movement of people have been lifted across the valley. However, restrictions on the assembly of people under Section 144 CrPC were in force throughout the valley.

The police officer said that the security officials has been deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order and to instill a sense of security among the people so that they can carry out day-to-day activities without fear.

Although mobile internet services remained suspended across Kashmir, the outgoing facility in prepaid mobile phone connections has been restored after three months.

Normal life, however, remained affected due to the tensions in the region, which killed 91 lives and left thousands of others injured in the clashes between protesters and security forces. Shops, business establishments, petrol pumps and educational institutions remained closed, while public transport continued to be off the roads.

According to the few reports, increased movement of private transport and auto-rickshaws in civil lines area of the city has been recorded.
