CRPF Personnel Suspended For Firing At Ambulance Driver In Srinagar

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel has been suspended after he fired at the ambulance driver on Friday with pallet gun in Srinagar in the under-tension Kashmir valley, which is under curfew for 42 straight days now.

CRPF inspector general Atul Karwal said, “Police are investigating the matter but departmental action has been taken against sub-inspector PS Yadav for the incident.”

Reports said that the driver was on his way to SMHS hospital when he was hit by pallet gun on Thursday night and suffered a bone fracture. However, the driver managed to reach the hospital despite the injury.

The Kashmir valley has been under lot of tensions since the security forces killed Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8. The separatists have called for the special boycott of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders.

On Thursday, residents complained that police had stopped vehicles carrying essential supplies from entering the state’s capital. However, the authorities dismissed all the claims of residents of issuing instructions to oil companies to stop distribution of fuel to the dealers.

The officials added that due to the Raksha Bandhan, the oil companies such as Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil temporarily suspended the supply.
